It’s been a long time since I posted about my research travels. Although I covered my first trip in 2014 quite extensively, the only other European building that I posted about after visiting it was the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, which I toured in 2015. I’m going to skip the rest of that trip for now and jump ahead to my trip to Ireland in 2018.
There are a lot of churches and cathedrals to see in Ireland – as well as lots of other beautiful sites. So where to begin? How to plan a trip to a place with so many riches? Well, as I usually do, I went to my personal library for guidance. There I found a book titled “Cathedrals in Britain & Ireland“. Part Four of this book featured 19 cathedrals in Ireland. Reading through that section of the book, I selected the ones that I found most interesting and plotted them on a Google map. (You can click on this link to download a PDF of the 12 cathedrals and one church I narrowed it down to.) After that, it was a simple matter of connecting the dots, as you see in the map below. I will start the actual tour in the next post, so stay tuned!
