The development of a new sacred space that could accommodate the worship needs of all members of the interdenominational student body was the primary challenge for this facility. The space was designed to accommodate individual meditation as well as group worship. The project began with site selection services, assisting the College in evaluation of numerous potential building locations. Once the site was selected, a Master Plan and cost estimate was prepared to assist the College in developing support for the project. The project was approved by the Trustees and the complete cost of the project was funded by donations from throughout the community. The building includes large assembly areas, private prayer spaces, an indoor meditation garden, a religious studies library and offices for Campus Ministry. The project was completed in February of 1997 and has been awarded the Circle of Humanity Award. A case study of this project was included in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) publication Beyond Tolerance: A Campus Religious Diversity Kit.
